Hand carved from wood, this printing block was used to hand print repeating patterns onto fabric. Each impression added one section of a larger design, requiring careful alignment and skilled craftsmanship.

Retired once the carving became too worn to produce a clean print, these blocks remain a lasting record of the hands that made and used them.
