Product Info and Care

These care notes are specific to the work we handcraft at Ji | The Atelier. Items sourced from other makers include their own care instructions, which you’ll find on the corresponding product pages whenever available/applicable.

General information

Each piece is handcrafted in small batches with careful attention to detail. We work with natural and azo-free dyes and make every effort to reduce waste throughout our production process. Because handmade textiles carry the imprint of the maker’s touch, slight variations in hue or weave may occur, even within the same batch. These nuances are part of what gives each piece its own character.

Some dyes, particularly natural ones, may release a little color during the first couple of washes. We recommend washing these pieces separately.

Care

Table and kitchen linens, linen accessories - Machine wash on gentle cycle with cold water. Hang in shade to dry. Iron if needed, on warm setting.

All scarves and bandanas - Dry cleaning is recommended. However, all of our scarves can be hand-washed separately with a mild pH-neutral detergent or a silk-specific detergent (if the product is silk) in cold water. Hang in shade to air dry. Iron if needed, and on reverse with the appropriate heat setting.

Do not machine wash or soak any scarf.

Bags - Cork part of the bags/wallets can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Spot clean on areas where there is fabric.

Woolen throws, shawls and scarvesDry cleaning is the best way to have them cleaned. Our woolen products can be washed by hand in cold water with wool-specific pH-neutral detergent. Do not soak for long periods of time. Do not wring. Press the water out of the fabric gently. For some useful guidelines on washing your cashmere and merino wool, read this.
