An homage to artisanal roots and stories.
We’ve long dreamt of a space, The Atelier, that would offer a tranquil environment to discover meaningful, everyday goods and be lost in the history of collected relics. Today, The Atelier calls Oakland home.
Our journey began with our textile studio, which explores artisanal skills through limited collections of home textiles and clothing accessories. Our choice to create in small quantities is a conscious one; it allows us to bring attention to long-established techniques such as handloom weaving, block printing, and resist dyeing. Through it all, we create season-less, earth-friendly pieces that last and transcend trends.
Our intention from the beginning was to eventually create a space to celebrate design, experience meticulously-crafted textiles in person and generate awareness around the processes and the slower approaches to ‘handcrafted’.
Over time, with our experiences at craft fairs in the Bay Area and beyond as well as the innumerable interactions with fellow creators, we began to appreciate the similarities in perception and the vision we share across mediums. It was then only natural that we brought in and feature the works of such artists and designers at The Atelier. Together our works are rooted in connected living, mindful consumption and cultural heritage.
Thank you for pausing to learn about us. We welcome you to join us in embracing the slow and charmingly imperfect nature of handcrafting culture.
