Hand carved from a single piece of wood, this vintage Tutsi vessel features a simple, elegant form with thin carved walls and metal inlay detail. Traditionally associated with the Tutsi people of Rwanda, vessels like these were used in the home for storing and serving milk and other daily provisions.

The metal repairs, originally made to extend the life of the vessel, gradually became a defining decorative feature. Each piece is distinguished by its grain, carving, proportions, and aluminum detailing.
